Functions 

Supervise and administer the prevention and control of air pollution, noise pollution and light pollution; Formulate and implement relevant policies, plans, laws, administrative regulations, departmental rules, standards and specifications; Analyze and identify air pollutant sources; Provide guidance in compiling plans to achieve air quality goals and improve air quality in the urban areas within a prescribed period of time; Establish the evaluation systems for achieving air quality improvement goals in local areas; Identify the key areas tasked with air pollution control and provide guidance for formulating relevant policies, programs, plans and measures; Draft policies and measures to be taken when heavy air pollution occurs; Compile a checklist of major air pollutant emissions and list toxic and harmful air pollutants; Establish and implement an environmental regulation system and information publicity system for mobile source air pollution; Coordinate the prevention and control of non-point source air pollution; Implement regional cooperative mechanisms for the prevention and control of air pollution; Carry out the daily operations for the Steering Group for the Prevention and Control of Air Pollution in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region and Surrounding Areas.
