The International Cleantech Summit and 2nd annual meeting of 3iPET was held on June 12 in Beijing. The theme of the event is "Improve Environmental Quality through Technical Innovation". It focuses on green technical innovation and transfer, and shared cutting-edge experience and technologies for the environmental treatment of air, water, soil as well as industrial parks. Vice Minister Huang Runqiu attended the meeting and delivered a speech.
Huang said green technical innovation has played an important role in solving tough situations on environment and development. The recent important statement of General Secretary Xi Jinping on promoting green development patterns and lifestyles is the direction of and guidance to properly handling the relation between economic growth and environmental protection, and advancing green development. Secretary of the Leading Party Members’ Group Li Ganjie emphasized the significance of environmental technical innovation, and clarified the direction of and requirements for promoting green technical innovation at the International Cleantech Summit. Technical innovation becomes the key part of environmental quality improvement.
Huang put forward three suggestions on 3iPET: first, serve the improvement of environmental quality, and strengthen the communications and sharing of key technologies for pollution treatment and ecological remediation; second, promote technical innovation and industrial integration, establish information sharing platform of environmental technologies, and effectively promote multi-party technical cooperation among the government, the think tanks, the industries, social organizations and the public; strengthen international cooperation, mobilize the advantageous resources of the international and domestic environmental industries, and innovate the international environmental technology transfer patterns.
The meeting showcased the achievements of 3iPET since foundation two years ago. It shared experience in development trend of international environmental technologies and the technology transfer, and conducted thematic activities such as international soil pollution treatment, third-party treatment, environmental treatment of industrial parks, bulk coal treatment in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, and environmental technology matching of Sino-US water treatment.
This meeting was jointly held by MEP-FECO, Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences (CSES) and China Environmental Service Industry Association (CESIA). Around 300 delegates with MEP, UNIDO, UNEP, World Bank, ADB, part of embassies, related scientific research institutions, industry associations, social groups, and international and domestic environmental enterprises attended the meeting.
