BEIJING, Apr. 18-The opening session of the 2017 spring semester of MEP Party School was held in Beijing today. A leading Party member and Vice Minister Zhai Qing delivered remarks at the opening session.
The sixth plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee proposed new concepts, new viewpoints, and new statements on comprehensively strengthening the Party discipline. It is a major political task of the entire Party and the country for now and for a period of time to come, to learn and implement the guidelines of the plenary session. The Ministry’s leading Party group attaches great importance to it and is about to organize training programs in and out of the Party School to articulate the necessity and importance of strengthening and standardizing the intraparty political life and intraparty supervision, guide the Party members to be thoroughly aware of it based on practical circumstances, and lay solid ideological and theoretical groundwork for accelerating the transformation and innovation of environmental management, uplifting the modernization level of environmental governance, and pushing for new progress to be made in promoting ecological progress.
Zhai pointed it out that in order to learn and implement the guidelines of the sixth plenary session, we should, first, uphold political integrity, keep in mind the bigger picture, follow the CPC as the core of the Chinese leadership, act consistently with CPC Central Committee policy; have an in-depth understanding of the significance of the plenary session’s decision to make clear General Secretary Xi Jinping’s core position; stress political awareness while forging the Party spirits; unit around the CPC Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping at the core, with a clear-cut and firm stand; resolutely safeguard the authority of the CPC Central Committee and make substantial efforts to implement the Central Committee’s decisions and deployments. Second, we should thoroughly understand the strategic plan of “comprehensively strengthening Party discipline”, and make strenuous efforts to carry out the Code on Interparty Political Life under New Circumstances and the Regulations of the Communist Party of China on Intraparty Supervision. We should enhance the awareness of the Party members and the trainees on the Party, the disciplines, and the rules, guide them to observe the bottom lines of Party regulations, and regulate word and conduct by Party regulations and disciplines. Third, we should beef up their ideals and beliefs, shoulder the political responsibilities for solving environmental problems, make strenuous efforts to intensify pollution control and ecological conservation, and push for the improvement of the overall environmental quality.
Zhai demanded that the trainees accomplish their assignments with high standards; be self-conscious to observe the CPC Central Committee’s eight-point decision on improving Party and government conduct, create healthy study environment; work harder on the theoretical studies on and practical explorations of the Marxism, use what they have learnt in promoting the innovation-driven development of the environmental undertaking, and make new contributions on new positions. As for the teaching management, the Party School should run the school, the faculty, and the enrollment strictly and keep improving the professional qualities and management levels.
