Zhai Qing meets with representatives of college environmental associations

Vice Minister Zhai Qing met with the representatives of the environmental associations of some universities and colleges in Beijing on the World Environment Day, on behalf of the Leading Party Members’ Group. He introduced the latest environmental trends and the progress in environmental protection, and encouraged the youths to actively take part in this endeavor.

The theme of this year’s World Environment Day is “Lucid Waters and Lush Mountains are Invaluable Assets”, which aims to increase the social consensus and guide all walks of life to build a beautiful country. As a vital force to advance the environmental protection progress, the youths are the hard core of the future environmental protection undertaking. The environmental associations in universities and colleges are the most dynamic youth organizations dedicated to green initiatives. With upbeat influence, they have made positive achievements in disseminating the environmental protection concepts and the ecological civilization value orientation, and conducting green social practices.

Zhai encouraged the representatives to start with trifle matters and mobilize more people around to care and protect the environment and contribute wisdoms and energy to the building of a beautiful country. The Ministry will enhance the communications with the young environmental volunteers and support the development of the environmental associations in universities and colleges.

Qian Yukun, the representative of Student Green Association of Tsinghua University; Liang Tiantian, representative of Environmental Education Base for Chinese University Students under Peking University; Gao Tian, representative of the Youth Volunteers Association of the Renmin Business School; Huang Xiaokai, representative of PRED Society of Beijing Normal University; Zhang Haoran, representative of Lvyuan Roots & Shoots with China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing); and Shi Yantong, representative of A4210 with Beijing Forestry University introduced the latest developments of their respective associations, voiced their opinions on developing ecological civilization and green development, around the theme of the World Environment Day and combined with their life and study experience, and vowed to be further dedicated to environmental protection, promote ecological progress, and mobilize more people to become environmental volunteers.
