This standard is formulated for the purposes of enforcing the Environment Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China, and the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People’s Republic of China, preventing the pollution of the environment by motorcycle exhausts, and improving the ambient air quality. This standard specifies the limits and measurement methods of the exhaust and evaporative emissions of motorcycles with positive-ignition engines, as well as the emission requirements of the crankcase, the durability requirements of the pollution control devices, and the technical specifications of the OBD system. This standard also specifies the limits and measurement methods of the exhaust emissions of tricycles powered by compression-ignition (CI) engines, as well as the durability requirements of the pollution control devices, and the technical specifications of the OBD system.
