This standard is formulated for the purposes of enforcing the Environment Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China and Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People’s Republic of China, protecting the environment, safeguarding the public health, and setting standards for the determination of chemical oxygen demand in waters. This standard specifies the dichromate method used to determine chemical oxygen demand in surface water, municipal wastewater, and industrial sewage. This standard is the amendment to Water quality-Determination of the chemical oxygen demand-Dichromate method (GB 11914-89).
