MEP Minister Zhou Shengxian met with Environment Minister LEE Maanee when he attended the 13th Tripartite Environment Ministers Meeting in Busan, South Korea on April 28.
MEP Minister Zhou Shengxian introduced to Minister LEE Maanee the key achievements of China in environmental protection work during the “11th Five-Year Plan” period and overall thinking and objectives of environmental protection during the “12th Five-Year Plan” period. MEP Minister Zhou Shengxian pointed out that the Fifth Plenary Session of the 17th National Congress of CPC held last year and the upcoming Seventh National Conference on Environmental Protection are of great significance to acceleration of green development in China and strengthen environmental protection at strategic level. In the next five years, MEP will deal with well the following 3 important issues: 1) the relations between economic growth and environmental protection; 2) environmental problem affecting scientific de and public health; and 3) further enhancement of energy saving and emission reduction based on the achievement of the “11th Five-Year Plan” period. MEP Minister Zhou Shengxian spoke highly of the achievement of environment cooperation between China and Korea over the past few years. He said that China is willing to work with Korean Environment Ministry, keep on bilateral good cooperation and continuously promote China-Korea environment cooperation in order to benefit the people of our two countries.
Korean Environment Minister LEE spoke highly of outstanding achievements of China in environmental protection under rapid economic development. He introduced the specific measures and latest progress of Green Growth Plan of Korea since last year and expressed willingness to share information and experience with China. The two sides exchanged their views on topics such as conservation of biodiversity and climate change.
