MEP Minister Zhou Shengxian attended the signing ceremony of the Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Environment Labeling of China and Eco Labeling of Japan by MEP CEC and Japan Environment Association in Busan, Korea on April 28 during the 13th Tripartite Environment Ministers Meeting period. He witnessed the signing of this important cooperation document. This agreement stipulates: the two countries recognize and accept that relevant operation system of the other party is open, transparent and credible. The two countries recognize relevant institution of the other side as sole domestic review agent and accept application of the other side for certification and independent review and examination. The signing of this agreement marks that environment certification cooperation between China and Japan enters a new development stage. It is conducive to further deepening exchange and cooperation between China and Japan on certification of environment labeling and eco labeling; removing non-tariff trade barriers and promotion of mutual recognition of environment labeling in East Asia and the world. Meanwhile, it has built a broader platform for Chinese and Japanese enterprises for certification of environment labeling and better facilitated healthy and sustainable development of economic and trade relations between the two countries.
