This standard is formulated for the purposes of enforcing the Environment Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China and the Air Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People's Republic of China, preventing and controlling the vehicle emissions and improving the ambient air quality. The standard stipulates the requirements for type test, and the methods for check and determination of the conformity of production and in-use compliance regarding the exhaust emission of light-duty vehicles at Stage VI. The light-duty vehicle producers are obligated to make sure the vehicles they produce and sell meet the in-use compliance requirements stipulated by this standard.
