The standard was formulated for the purpose of implementing the Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China and Law on Prevention and Control of Environmental Noise and regulating routine monitoring and assessment of urban acoustic environment. The standard defines technical requirements for the items of routine monitoring of urban environmental noise, establishment of monitoring sites, monitoring frequency, timing of measurement, assessment methods, quality assurance and quality control.
