The standard was formulated for the purpose of implementing the Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China and China Country Program to Phase out Ozone Depleting Substances and reducing the harmful impact of refrigerating equipment for industry and commerce in the process of production and use on the environment and human health. The standard applies to certification of China environmental labeling products and low carbon products. The standard takes effect as of Feb. 1, 2013 in place of previous standard HJ/T 235－2006.
