The current standard is developed for the purpose of implementation of Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China; promoting the application of information technology in environmental protection, strengthening the management of environmental spatial data, standardizing the exchange process of environmental spatial data and promoting sharing and application of environmental spatial data. The current standard specifies the contents such as XML description, exchange mode, exchange bases, exchange flow, quality and safety requirement for data exchange for exchange of environmental spatial data. Annex A of the current standard is normative annex. Annex B and Annex C are informative annexes. The current standard is released for the first time.
