This standard is formulated for the purposes of enforcing the Environment Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China, promoting the environmental information services, safeguarding the interconnectivity and sharing of environmental information, and setting the metadata standards for environmental information. This standard specifies the framework of the metadata standards for environmental information, and the metadata for 11 regulated items including the object class, property, classification scheme, value domain, data element concept, data element, dataset specification, terminology, indicator, dataset, and quality declaration.
