The current standard is developed for the purpose of implementing Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Atmospheric Pollution and Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Waste, materializing the Measures on the Management of Development & Revision of National Environmental Protection Standards, standardizing drawing and revising analytical method standards for environmental monitoring, ensuring work quality and improving efficiency. The current standard specifies work procedures and basic requirements for drawing and revising environment analytical method standards as well as technical requirements for standard text and relevant technical documents. The current standard is applicable to drawing and revising analytical method standards for environmental monitoring. The current standard is the revision of Environmental Monitoring － Technical Guideline on Drawing and Revising Analytical Method Standards (HJ/T 168-2004). The Environmental Monitoring － Technical Guideline on Drawing and Revising Analytical Method Standards (HJ/T 168-2004) shall be nullified beginning from the date when the current standard goes into effect.
