This standard is formulated for the purposes of enforcing the Environment Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China, protecting the environment, safeguarding the human health, and setting standards for the development of environmental reference materials and making sure the measurements of environmental reference materials are accurate and reliable. This standard specifies the national management requirements for the development of environmental reference materials, and the technical specifications for the design, preparation, study and testing of homogeneity, study and testing of stability, determination, evaluation and representation of property values, certificate and labeling, packaging, storage and transport, and replication of environmental reference materials, considering the technical characteristics of the development of those materials, and in accordance with the GB/T 15000 series of directives for the work of reference materials, and the latest ISO/REMCO technical guidance for reference materials. This standard is the amendment to Technical specifications for development of environmental reference materials (HJ/T 173 -2005).
