Mr. Xu Qinghua, MEP Chief Engineer on Nuclear Safety and CCICED Vice Secretary General heading a delegation visited the headquarters of Environment Canada and CIDA on September 28 and discussed China-Canada environment cooperation and CCICED activities with DG of the Department of Multilateral and Bilateral Affairs of Environment Canada and DG of Department of China and Northeastern Asia Affairs of CIDA.
In the discussion, the two sides spoke highly of the achievement of China-Canada environmental cooperation, especially the achievements of China-Canada CCICED program over the past. The two sides have reached common understanding in principle in areas such as management mechanism for CCICED projects, rules on fund use and CCICED Secretariat and its International Supporting Office. Talking about the specific operation of CCICED Phase V program, the two sides believed it necessary to sign bilateral cooperation agreement at appropriate time.
On behalf of MEP Minister Zhou Shengxian, Xu Qinghua once again welcomed Mr. Kent, Minister of Environment Canada, on behalf of Candaina Government serving as the International Executive Vice Chairman of CCICED Phase V and invited Minister Kent to attend CCICED 2012 AGM held in Beijing in November. Xu Qinghua said, MEP Minister Zhou Shengxian is looking forward to meeting Minister Kent during CCICED 2012 AGM and discussing relevant issues on promoting all activities of CCICED Phase V and China-Canada environmental cooperation.
