Vice Minister Li Ganjie of MEP lead a Chinese delegation to attend the 7th ASEAN ¡ªChina, Japan and Korea Environment Ministerial Meeting (hereinafter referred to as "10£«3" ministerial meeting) and the First East Asian Ministers Meeting in Hanoi on October 9, 2008 at the invitation of Environment Minister of Viet Nam and ASEAN Secretariat.

At the opening ceremony, Vice Minister Li Ganjie introduced the latest environmental policies and the latest achievement in environmental protection in particular pollution reduction. He said, China is accelerating the implementation of the Summit Initiatives including China¡ªASEAN Environment Cooperation Strategy jointly developed by ASEAN and China, establishment of China¡ªASEAN Environmental Protection Cooperation Center and the holding of China¡ªASEAN Environment Ministerial Meeting. He stressed that China attaches importance to the "10£«3" ministerial meeting mechanism and is willing to, with this as a platform, work with other countries to continue practical cooperation and assist and cooperate with each other in conservation efforts to take good care of the Earth, the only home of human beings. 

In the afternoon of the same day, Vice Minister Li Ganjie attended the First East Asian Ministers Meeting. Centering on the theme of the meeting "Sustainable Cities in East Asia", he introduced to the participants of the achievements and experience of China in the development of model cities on environmental protection and put forward his suggestions on the development and position of the East Asian Ministers Meeting mechanism. East Asian Ministers Meeting is the follow up action of environmental cooperation for the materialization of the Singapore Joint Declaration on Climate Change, Energy and Environment adopted at the Third East Asia Summit in Singapore in 2007.

During the meeting, Vice Minister Li Ganjie also met with the environmental minister of such countries as Viet Nam, Japan, Korea and Australia and exchanged views on environmental cooperation with them.
