This standard is formulated for the purpose of implementing the Law of the People's Republic of China on Environmental Protection and Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Wastes, enhancing the control of pollution caused by hazardous wastes, protecting the environment, and safeguarding people's health. This standard stipulates the extraction procedures for leaching toxicity of solid wastes as well as the measures to ensure the quality. This standard shall apply to the identification for leaching toxicity of organic and inorganic matters in solid wastes and their recycled products, but not to the identification for leaching toxicity of cyanide. This standard shall not apply to samples of water-insoluble liquids. This standard shall serve as guidance.
