The standard provides technical requirements, related testing methods and inspection rules for medical waste packages, sharps boxes and transfer containers (barrels) as well as medical waste warning labels. The standard applies to manufacturers of medical waste packages and containers, medical waste transport and disposal units. The standard supersedes Standard on Medical Waste Packages and Containers and Regulations on Warning Labels (SEPA Order No. (2003) 188) upon implementation. As provided by laws concerned, this standard has compulsory execution effect.
