This standard is formulated for the purpose of implementing Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China, Law of the People’s Republic of China on Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, setting standards for the construction, operation and management of tannery industry wastewater treatment projects, preventing and controlling environmental pollution, and protecting the environmental and human health. This standard provides the technical specifications for the general requirements, process design, testing and control, construction and environmental check and acceptance, and operation and maintenance of tannery industry wastewater treatment projects. This standard shall apply to the wastewater treatment projects for tannery industry, which has peltries as the raw materials and applies chrome tanning process. It may also be the technical basis for the environmental impact assessment, feasibility study, design, construction, installation, commissioning, environmental check and acceptance, operation, supervision and management of such projects. Wastewater treatment projects for tannery industries and zones which use other raw materials and apply other tanning processes may refer to this standard.
