The current standard is developed for the purpose of implementing Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, protecting and controlling water pollution, improving environment quality and standardizing the application of biofilter in sewage (waste water) treatment projects. The current standard specifies the technical requirements such as technology design, main processes and equipment, testing & control, construction, check & acceptance, operation and maintenance of sewage (waste water) treatment projects employing biofilter. The current standard is applicable to the projects treating urban sewage and industrial effluent similar to urban sewage which employ biofilter. It could serve as technical bases for EIA, design, construction, environment check & acceptance and post-construction operation and management of sewage (waste water) treatment projects employing biofilter.
