The current standard is developed for the purpose of implementing Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, standardizing the design, construction, check & acceptance, operation and maintenance of water pollution treatment projects, and improving water environment quality. The current standard specifies the general technical requirements for the design, construction, check &acceptance, operation and maintenance of water pollution treatment and control projects. The current standard is the common technical specifications of environment engineering technical standard system and applicable to sewage (waste water) treatment plants (stations). The projects with corresponding technological specifications or pollution source control technical specifications shall comply with the current standard and corresponding technological specifications or pollution source control technical specifications at the same time. The current standard could serve as technical bases for EIA, design, construction, check & acceptance, operation and maintenance of water pollution treatment projects. The current standard is issued for the first time in China.
