The current standard is developed for the purpose of implementing the Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China, carrying out the spirit of the State Council on protecting the safety of agricultural produces, preventing and controlling environmental protection, ensuring human health and protecting eco environment. The current standard is one of series environmental assessment standards for the places of origin of edible agricultural produces. Environmental protection departments at or above county level may take reference of the indicators and monitoring and assessment methods in the series standards to assess environmental situation of the place of origin of edible agricultural produces during environmental monitoring and management of the places of origin. The current standard specifies such contents as the quality of water, soil, air and acoustic environment of various livestock and poultry production bases, assessment indicators, limits, monitoring and assessment methods. The current standard is applicable to assessment and management of environmental quality of livestock and poultry farms, breeding areas and breeding site of grazing land across China. The current standard is only applicable to livestock and poultry farms, breeding areas and grazing areas permitted by law. The current standard is not applicable to assessment and management of environmental quality of livestock and poultry product processing & production sites.
