The current standard is developed for the purpose of implementing laws and regulations such as Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, Law of the People's Republic of China on the Protection of Marine Environment, Suggestions of the State Council on Strengthening Major Work on Environmental Protection as well as Opinions of the State Council on Developing Plan for National Main Function Areas, protecting the environment, preventing and controlling pollution and facilitating advancement of production process and pollution control technologies of dyeing and finishing of textile industry. The current standard specifies water pollutant discharge limit during production of dyeing and finishing of textile industry as well as monitoring requirements. The discharge standard of water pollutants for dyeing and finishing of textile industry (GB 4287-1992) shall be nullified since the date when the current standard goes into effect.
