The standard was formulated for the purpose of implementing the Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China and Law on the Prevention and Control of Water Pollution, protecting the environment, safeguarding human health and regulating the determination methods for volatile organic compounds in water. The standard provides purge and trap/gas chromatography-mass spectrometer for determining volatile organic compounds in seawater, groundwater, surface water, domestic sewage and industrial wastewater. This is the first issuance of the standard.
