The 13th Five-Year Plan for the Environment and Health Work of National Environmental Protection was issued by MEP recently, which clarified 5 major tasks.

Firstly, investigation and monitoring should be promoted, including advancing the environmental health in key regions and key sectors and exploring the construction of environmental health risk monitoring network.

Secondly, the technical supporting should be strengthened. It includes establishing environmental health criterion and standard system, improving environmental health information system, promoting the construction of key environmental health lab, strengthening environmental health expertise team building.

Thirdly, scientific research should be put more efforts in, including intensifying the research of basic theory and technical methods on environmental criterion and environmental quality standard, carrying out research on environmental health exposure assessment and risk evaluation, implementing research on environmental health management policies.

Fourthly, the institutional construction should be accelerated. It includes the building of system on environmental health monitoring, investigation and risk evaluation.

Fifthly, publicity and education should be improved, including carrying out monitoring and assessment of public awareness on environmental health, popularize environmental health knowledge.
