The current standard is developed for the purpose of implementing the laws and regulations such as Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, Law of the People's Republic of China on Prevention and Control of Atmospheric Pollution, Decisions of the State Council on Implementation of the Outlook on Scientific Development and Strengthening Environmental Protection as well as the Suggestions of the State Council on Developing National Plan for Main Function Areas, protecting the environment, preventing and controlling pollution and facilitating the progress of production and pollution control technologies of iron smelting industry. The current standard specifies relevant requirements such as emission limit, monitoring and control requirements for air pollutants from iron smelting enterprises or production facilities, as well as the implementation of standard and its supervision. The current standard is applicable to the management of emissions of air pollutants of existing iron smelting enterprises or production facilities, as well as environmental impact assessment, design of environmental protection facilities, post-construction environmental check and acceptance of construction projects of iron smelting industry as well as control of air pollutants of these projects after putting into operation. The current standard is issued for the first time in China.
