This standard is formulated in a bid to implement laws and regulations including the Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China and the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Atmospheric Pollution and the Opinions On Strengthening Key Environmental Protection Work by the State Council, protect the environment, prevent pollution and heighten the control and management of air emission of crematory. The standard stipulates the ceiling value for the emission of air pollutants and requirements on monitoring during the process of treatment of remains and incineration of the relics and sacrifice for crematory. The discharge of other pollutants of odor pollutants and environmental noise by crematory shall observe corresponding applicable national pollution discharge standards, and the identification, treatment and disposal of solid wastes hence generated shall observe applicable national standards on solid waste pollution control. This standard provides the basic requirements for air emission control for crematory. The people's government at the provincial level can formulate local emission standard for pollutant items that haven’t been specified in this standard, while for the pollutants items having been specified in this standard, more stringent local emission standards can be formulated. Should relevant EIA document or pollution discharge permit puts forward more stringent requirements than this standard or the local one, the said EIA document or pollution discharge permit shall prevail. This standard is formulated by the Department of Science, Technology and Standards of MEP.
