This standard is formulated in a bid to implement the Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China and the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Atmospheric Pollution, prevent environmental pollution of vehicle emission and improve ambient air quality. This standard is the supplement of the Limits and measurement methods for exhaust pollutants from compression ignition and gas fuelled positive ignition engines of vehicles (China III, IV & V) (GB 17691-2005) by stipulating the limits and measurement methods for emission of pollutants from urban vehicles installing diesel engines and from the engine. This standard is issued for the first time.
