This standard is formulated in a bid to implement the Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China, safeguard human health and promote technological advancement. It stipulates the requirements on the concentration of benzene, toluene, xylene, ethylbenzene, styrene, formaldehyde, acetaldehyde and propylene aldehyde in the air inside passenger car and is applicable to the assessment of air quality inside passenger cars. The standard is mainly applicable to newly assembled passenger cars for sale, while similar cars in use can also make reference to the standard for application. This standard is issued for the first time.
