The standard is formulated for the purpose of implementing the Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Noise Pollution and controlling the damage of noise at boundary of industrial enterprises. It stipulates the noise limit applicable to the boundary of factories as well as enterprises and public institutions that may cause noise pollution with the unit of Leq (dBA). The standard value of each class in the day-time and at night are respectively as follows: residential areas and areas for cultural and educational purpose of use: 55, 45; area with the mixed purpose of residential, commercial and industrial use as well as commercial centers: 60, 50; industrial areas: 65, 55; and areas along both sides of trunk line: 70, 55. The standard is supplemented by related monitoring method. The standard is applicable to the boundary area of factories as well as enterprises and public institutions that may cause noise pollution.
