The current standard has been developed based on the provisions of Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and Measures on the Management of Radioactive Environment as well as specific situation of development of radioactive research reactors in China. The current guidelines specify the standard format and basic content of environmental impact reports for proposed research reactors that the operating unit submits to State Environmental Protection Administration. The current guidelines are applicable to land fixed research reactors.
