This Standard specifies safety management, control principle and requirements for the radioactive waste generated from the mining and mineral processing processes in uranium and thorium mines. It also presents general requirements for the design, operation and decommissioning of waste management facilities. The current Standard is applicable to the management of radioactive waste generated from the decommissioning of uranium & thorium mining and mineral processing facilities. The management of radioactive waste generated from the in-service uranium & thorium mining and mineral processing facilities and the waste generated from non-uranium and thorium mining & mineral processing facilities with radionuclide concentration exceeding relevant standard may apply the standard accordingly.
