This standard is formulated for the purpose of implementing Environmental Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China and Law of the People's Republic of China on Prevention and Control of Radioactive Pollution, preventing and controlling radioactive pollution, improving the environmental quality, and protecting the public health. This standard provides the technical requirements for discharge of radioactive liquid effluents from nuclear power plants. This standard shall apply to the administration on the design and operation of the discharge system of radioactive liquid effluents from the LWR and HWR nuclear power plants as well as on the discharge of such effluents. The nuclear power plants using other types of reactors and nuclear reactor facilities may refer to this standard. This standard is the amendment to the Technical rules for discharge system of radioactive waste water from LWR nuclear power plant (GB 14587-93). The standard Technical rules for discharge system of radioactive waste water from LWR nuclear power plant (GB 14587-93) shall be abolished as of the day this standard goes into effect.
