This standard is formulated for the purpose of implementing the Law of the People's Republic of China on Environmental Protection and Law of the People's Republic of China on the Prevention and Control of Environmental Pollution by Solid Wastes, preventing and controlling the environmental pollution caused by hazardous wastes, enhancing the management of hazardous wastes, protecting the environment, and safeguarding people's health. This standard stipulates the procedures and rules to identify the hazardous wastes. This standard shall apply to the identifying of the hazardous nature of solid wastes produced in any of the production and living activities as well as other activities and not the identification of sewage water emitted to the water body. This standard shall not apply to radioactive wastes. This standard shall be subject to compulsory enforcement according to relevant laws.
