The current standard is developed for the purpose of implementing Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and Law of the People's Republic of China on the Promotion of Clean Production, and providing technical support and guidance for copper electrolytic enterprises to carry out clean production. Based on meeting national and local pollutant discharge standards, the current standard presents general requirement for clean production of copper electrolytic industry in line with current technology, equipment level and management of the industry. The current standard identifies three grades. Grade I represents internationally advanced level of clean production. Grade II represents domestically advanced level of clean production. Grade III represents the basic level of clean production in China. The current standard will be revised at appropriate time with continuously progress and development of technology. The current standard is applicable to clean production examination, judgment of potential and opportunity of clean production and evaluation as well as publication system for performance of clean production of copper electrolytic enterprises. It is also applicable to environmental management systems such as environment impact assessment and pollutant discharge license. The current standard is released for the first time in China.
