The current standard is developed for the purpose of implementation of Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, Law of the People's Republic of China on Environmental Impact Assessment and Regulations on Environmental Impact of Plans; standardizing and guiding environmental impact assessment; preventing environmental pollution and ecological damages from the decision making process and promoting comprehensive, coordinated and sustainable development of economy, society and environment.
