The current standard is developed for the purpose of implementation of Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China and Law of the People's Republic of China on Environmental Impact Assessment, standardizing environmental impact assessment of electric power transmission and distribution project and preventing the pollution of electric power transmission and distribution projects. The current standard specifies technical requirements such as the content and methods of EIA of electric power transmission and distribution projects. The current standard is the revision of Technical Regulations on Environmental Impact Assessment of Electromagnetic Radiation Produced by 500kV Ultrahigh Voltage Transmission and Transfer Power Engineering (HJ/T 24—1998). The current standard was firstly released in 1998 with the original drafting organization being Beijing Jiaotong University and this is the first revision.
