The current standard is developed for the purpose of implementation of Environmental Protection Law of the People's Republic of China, Law of the People's Republic of China on Prevention and Control of Water Pollution and Law of the People's Republic of China on Environmental Impact Assessment, standardizing and guiding the assessment of environmental impact on groundwater, protecting the environment and preventing the pollution of groundwater. The current standard specifies the general principle, contents, procedures, methods and technical requirements for assessing environmental impacts of groundwater environment. The current standard was firstly released in 2011 and this is the first revision.
