The current standard is developed for the purpose of implementing Convention on Biological Diversity and the Nagoya Protocol on Access to Genetic Resources and the Fair and Equitable Sharing of Benefits Arising from Their Utilization; China Biodiversity Conservation Strategy and Action Plan (2011–2030), “study and establish acquisition and benefit sharing system of genetic resources” specified in the Outline of National Intellectual Property Strategy and Outline of National Plan for Protection and Use of Biological Species Resources (2006–2020); promoting the protection, inherence, use and equitable sharing of relevant traditional knowledge of local communities especially ethnic local communities on biodiversity and sustainable use of genetic resources and guiding the classification, investigation and cataloging of relevant traditional knowledge.
