This standard is formulated for the purposes of enforcing the Environment Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China and the Cleaner Production Law of the People’s Republic of China, protecting the environment, and providing technical support and guidance for the ferroalloy industry to conduct cleaner production. This standard specifies the generic requirements for cleaner production of ferroalloy industry, based on the present technological, equipment, and managerial levels, on the precondition of meeting national and local discharge standards. This standard stipulates three levels, which is, A level that represents the internationally advanced cleaner production level, B level that represents the nationally advanced cleaner production level, and C level that represents the national basic cleaner production level. With the technological advancement, this standard shall be updated at proper timings. This standard specifies the generic requirements for the cleaner production of ferroalloy industry. This standard provides four kinds of indicators concerning the cleaner production of ferroalloy industry, that is, requirements for production processes and equipment, resource and energy utilization indicators, waste recycling indicators, and environmental management requirements. This standard shall apply to the cleaner production audit, estimation of the cleaner production potentials and opportunities, appraisal of cleaner production performances, and announcement of cleaner production performances for six varieties of ferroalloy producers that adopt the electric arc furnace process-silicon iron, high carbon ferromanganese, siliconmanganese, medium and low carbon ferromanganese, high carbon ferro-chrome, and medium, low and micro ferro-chrome producers. It shall also apply to such environmental management regimes as environmental impact assessment and pollution permitting systems. This standard is the original version.
