This standard is formulated for the purposes of enforcing the Environment Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China and Water Pollution Prevention and Control Law of the People’s Republic of China, protecting the environment, safeguarding the human health, and setting standards for the determination of extractable petroleum hydrocarbons (C10-C40) in water. This standard specifies the gas chromatography used to determine extractable petroleum hydrocarbons (C10-C40) in surface water, groundwater, municipal wastewater, industrial wastewater, and seawater.
